s+c released the sixth edition of the TechLetter "Uniform User Authentication". It deals with the topic
Integrate mobile clients into Kerberos/LDAP environments (part 2: Configuration of name services)
Summary:
Systems for user administration like Kerberos/LDAP or Active Directory based on it run as network services. But notebooks and other mobile computers should also operate smoothly without network connection. The first edition of the two-part TechLetter dealt with solving this discrepancy during user authentication at a client. This now released second part deals with also making available authorization data and all other user information for notebooks & Co., regardless of whether or not they are able to connect to central administration servers within the network.
TechLetter is a free info service by science + computing ag. Read news, practical tips and further interesting information about the topic "Uniform User Authentication". TechLetter is released several times a year and each issue focuses on a technical topic.

Free Input Afternoons about the subject WLAN security

Securely integrate heterogeneous clients into your company WLAN

Using WLAN to access the compnay network is already a daily routine in many places. With Windows clients within the own company structure, this can usually be managed without complications. The access privileges are determined and the configuration of the clients is explicitly defined. But what if the sales assistant must remotely transfer data from the intranet onto his iPhone, if you want to give employees of a partner company in a meeting room restricted access to the company network or even if you want to remotely integrate exotic embedded devices into the LAN?
Which options are available to securely and at the same time comfortably integrate such clients into the company WLAN?
This is explained by two science + computing experts at the free s+c input afternoons.
Securely integrate heterogeneous clients into your company WLAN

Having founded the networking community <link http://www.opensourceberlin.de/ _blank>open source berlin
, five software and consulting companies located in Berlin concentrate their competencies in developing and marketing open source software. With their know-how to tailor free software components to customer requirements, the founding companies have been successful for more than 10 years acting as inter-regional IT service providers. The community plans to advertise more intensely the capabilities of free software and to promote widely their competencies accumulated in the network.

Fifth edition of TechLetter "Uniform User Authentication" released

s+c released the fifth edition of the TechLetter "Uniform User Authentication". It deals...

s+c released the fifth edition of the TechLetter "Uniform User Authentication". It deals with the subject
Integrate mobile clients into Kerberos/LDAP environments (part 1: Authentication)
Summary:
It seems to be an incompatible contradiction: Kerberos, LDAP or LDAP-based Active Directory gather information concerning user administration on central servers and make this information available to their clients via network. Generally, the main purpose of using notebooks and other mobile computers is their availability without a permanent network connection. The two-part TechLetter presents possibilities to solve this contradiction on Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems. Part one of this edition describes a reasonable use of the authentication service Kerberos on notebooks and other mobile clients.
TechLetter is a free info service by science + computing ag. Read news, know-hows and further interesting information about the subject "Uniform User Authentication". TechLetter is released several times a year and each issue deals in depth with a technical topic.
